Feltmaking course - make a tunic

Laying out the wool for the felt tunic, at Mosman Community College.

White is beautiful on its own, or bright colour. Design your own creation.

Shawl made during the nuno felt making course. Gorgeous original design.

Such delight in helping people discover a new creative technique to express themselves with.

This one is ready for eco dyeing in the eco dye course next term.

Your own original piece of clothing, ready for winter.

Reversible tunic, beautiful silk or wool side.

Beginners felt making course at Mosman

photos by Christopher Maait

We're having a hoot of a time each Monday at Mosman. Here are some shots from the first lesson of wet wool felting. We have come a long way since then, next week I will show you the tunics from the more experienced class. Great sunny smiles and laughs. Love it.

A stitch in time saves sanity

Keeping sane while sitting in a hospital waiting room for many hours. Morning tv was threatening my sanity with lipo suction, botox, pet insurance...

An ideal way to pass tedious waiting time, that can be continued whenever calmness is needed.

Various samples of eco prints from jars and experiments. Mostly cellulose fibres such as hemp and linen. Stitched with dyed silk threads.

These few I waited to unwrap from the workshop. Below are the hidden secrets. They then got stitched in to the piece.

Eco dyeing at Newcastle

This past weekend I had fun with a lovely bunch of creative wonders at Newcastle, organised by Anne at Timeless Textiles. We threw all kinds of things into the pots, then filled our bellies with yummy cake and lunch to keep us away from unbundling the temptations. Some even followed my advice and took their steaming bundles home to open another day. But then, some didn't. It's a bit like stopping after one piece of cake, we know we should, but...

Poetic gestures at Mosman Community College

I've been having a lot of fun with some lovely ladies in my felt making courses at Mosman Community College. These are some shots from the nuno felting course.

Samples on the first day. Plenty of room for self expression.

Samples would make gorgeous patches for a creative sewing project...

From these ideas we then designed scarves and second day we made shawls.

"This is the most fun I've had in years" said one of my delightful students. Coffee and chocolate keeps our energy levels up.

Bunya eco dyeing and eco eating with India Flint and Roz Hawker

I've finally met the master, after studying her works and techniques through her books for the last 6 years. What a lovely day we spent in the gorgeous gardens at Roz Hawker's home.

A sumptuous meal in a beautiful tropical setting, to add perfection to our creative exploits.

Wandered through the garden playing bower birds...

bubble bubble toil and trouble. Love a wood smoke fire...

Merino jersey wrap for keeping out this cold snap. Lovely day. Thanks Roz and India xx
